Whether touring companies or the local theatre company theatre, is an integral part of Menton society. From October to May the Francis-Palmero Theatre, within the "Palais de l’Europe", hosts productions participating in the theatre season. In summer, "la petite place des fours", in the old city, is converted into an open air theatre.
In the Lavoir Theatre, various plays and workshop theatre are produced from September to June and numerous associations in Menton stage theatrical events throughout the year. In May, the annual Franco-Italian Street Theatre meet and produce "la commedia dell’arte" right in the heart of the city.
