With more than 70 clubs and over 6000 members Menton is a dynamic and sporty city. It is possible to practice almost all sports from basketball to karate, football to twirling, and from pétanque to swimming... The surrounding area offers further recreational facilities such as skiing, hill walking and mountain climbing, paragliding, canyonning and rapid whitewater rafting.
The Mediterranean lends to many other activities such as sailing, scuba diving and kayaking.
Budding Champions
Menton has produced its fair share of champions, such as Nathalie Leroy, of the Karate Boxing Club (gold medal in the French championships in 1997) or the Panizzi brothers from the ASA club (French car-rally champions in 1996 and 1997), other Stephane Clamens from Club France Tir Sportif Côte d’Azur (selected to the Olympics of Sydney in 2000)
Equipment
Menton has the Careï gymnasium, the municipal swimming pool, several stadiums, two tennis clubs, Tennis de la Madone and Tennis-Club de Menton, basketball courts, pétanque grounds and currently in the pipeline is the Sporting Complex “Val d’Anaud” with two stadiums.
